How To Wash Your Face Every Day?

Washing your face is not as obvious as it seems! If you’re washing it in the shower, stop. Unless you’re taking cold showers, which is better for the skin and hair, hot water is drying and damaging. No matter what, you should always wash with cool water. Heat strips the skin of its natural oils. It’s vital not just for dry skin, but also for acne-prone skin since hot water will inflame the skin tissue around any breakouts, making them worse. Read the following simple steps to wash correctly:

  1. Wet your skin with cold or lukewarm water.
  1. Put a cleanser in your palm and apply it to your face with your fingertips. Give yourself a relaxing massage this should take a minute or two.
  1. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.
  1. Spray your skin with gentle toner. My favourite is Pukka Organic Rosewater. Let it sit on your face for a couple of minutes.
  1. Take a serum, ideally with vitamin C such as Vitamin C Serum OZ Naturals and apply to your entire face. Wait a minute or two.
  1. Now is the time to apply your eye cream. Remember to use a very small amount. Eye cream comes in small tubes for a good reason!
  1. Take your moisturiser and apply all over your face. Wait a minute or two.
  1. Finally, use sunscreen and make-up as needed.

Towels are a breeding ground for bacteria. If you are prone to breakouts or have sensitive skin, using a towel to dry your face can spread the bacteria and make things worse. I like to air dry and apply my serums onto slightly damp skin.

Girls, the most important thing to remember is to make sure your face is clean, toned and moisturised before you get into bed or before you put on your make-up! Take your time while washing your face, and give yourself a bit of TLC at the same time, it’s worth it!

Parabens In The Beauty Products!

Parabens is one of many chemicals used in beauty products that I have decided to blog about. Clients often ask me if a particular foundation or cream used on a daily basis is good for their skin. I am always willing to give them my opinion, but it is not for me to decide if they should or should not be using it. I believe it should be your decision! I hope these blogs will make you more aware of chemicals that are present in many beauty products that could be harmful for your body. If any of you have any further questions regarding these blogs please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

truth behind parabens London

By now you have probably heard about parabens, they are used in every category of cosmetics. They are a cheap and effective way to extend the shelf life of products. They stop fungus, bacteria and other microbes from growing in your favourite creams and makeup, especially in the moist, warm environment of a bathroom.Their names are methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben and isobutylparaben. You’ll find them listed on thousands of personal care products such as shampoos, mascara, foundations and body lotions. The question is why should we avoid them in our beauty products and are they really harmful to us?

  1. One study showed that parabens could age the skin when it is exposed to UV light.

  1. Parabens can cause skin irritation and contact dermatitis and rosacea in individuals with paraben allergies.

  1. Parabens can migrate to body tissue. It has been found in breast tumour tissues. We still don’t know if it causes cancer cells to grow. More testing is still needed.

Companies always claim that products have been tested and don’t cause any harm to us. The truth is they have been testing it for a relatively short period of time. Remember, the decision is yours!
